These are the cutest rentals! They have them decorated with such a fun, quirky style. The owners are super sweet, and it's nice having the cafe downstairs to grab a coffee or have lunch before going out on adventures. We stayed here 1 night on our honeymoon in AK in June and we really enjoyed the warm welcome, the clean, bright room and bath and the location to shops, restaurants and bars. The staff was friendly and we loved the coupons for The Sea Bean Cafe. The wi-fi was good and the room was comfortable and quiet. We would highly recommend this unique hotel to anyone traveling to Seward. BEWARE! My husband and I visited Alaska last week for our anniversary. We had booked sauerdough lodging back in April where 50%of the total was immediately charge to our credit card. Then 14 days before our arrival the balance was charged. I would of been fine with this if the lodging was as advertised and a safe place to stay. I have pictures of the back of the apartment where we were suppose to stay. The best word I can discribe it is dilapidated. With a false since if security from the front. In the back anyone could come Up a nearby stairway in this allyway and get into the two windows which were suppose to be our "charming " room that in reality was nothing more than rusty tin and tar surrounding it. As for hospitality - No one greeted us at the main door, there was no one there when we preceded to the upstairs - once we walked upstairs the noise from other rooms were very loud ( like a college dorm) . When we entered the apartment with a code emailed to us. The lock was difficult to lock or unlock. We immediately felt uneasy about the place and our security. The bed itself was not a true bed at all ( not like you would get in a average hotel) again very low scale to a cheap cheap hotel. We contacted our credit card company and they contacted the owner asking for a refund. He declined. We offered even to pay for the first night if he would refund the the remaining 4 nights. Which again they declined. Bookers beware this is an old building downtown Seward not a cute little cottage/ or renovated building as you may see on there webpage. The stairwell is dirty and you fell eerie upon entering. We are common ordinary people with the expectation of a holiday inn express. Clean and safe- not sauerdough lodging- it was definitely a "sour" experience. We luckily were able to stay at the best western a block over which was wonderful clean and safe. Unfortunately the owners of "sour" dough are not very nice or accommodating to there guest. The credit card company tried to mediate with him to resolve this and he was unwilling to compromise on any point . Think twice before booking there are several better choices in town! This would not even be my bottom choice. Cute place, right above a nice coffee shop (with the same owner). Plenty of towels and amenities, with a credit toward breakfast at the cafe. Such an adorable old meets new housing option in Seward. Everything was clean anx beyond my expetations. Price was a bit expensive, but in line with most Seward options.
