After a beautiful pleasant 8 mile drive, it's a real pleasure to arrive at the Exit Glacier Nature Center, to park, and to hike and photograph. As you enter the park you'll see "year" signs that designate where the end of the glacier was in the 1800's (!!); all you have to do is park, put on your comfortable shoes, grab your raingear, water bottle and camera, and either head for the Nature Center, or go straight to the glacier view walk. It's only a half mile walk down a very nice trail, in the woods, and of course, lots to photograph. Back at the Nature Center the National Park Service rangers are simply superb. All in all, highly recommended. Great for a woods walk, a great chance to look at ancient nature and at the same time feels so bad, the acts of modern humans, destroying a natural masterpiece at such a fast pace This hike is gorgeous! Most definitely worth taking the time to do. Honestly, I wish I had time to do the full 6hr round-trip trail that they had, but sadly I only had 3hrs to hike around. Scenery is amazing, a lot of signs of moose, and insane views up-close of Exit Glacier. The nature center was small, but very informative and interactive. So enjoyable. Staff at the center willing to answer questions and the hike (I think we ran) up to the glacier was very memorable. Go now before it melts! Exit Glacier is a Must-See ... as in "you must see this glacier before it exits the face of the earth". Year-numbered signs from the 1800s mark the now-flat, clear and dry land, and testify to the shameful reality that this glacier, along with all others on this human-tormented planet, is retreating beyond any hope of recovery. To see it and to touch it is very emotional and humbling, while also arousing some degree of doubt about the self-absorbed, short-sighted, oft-misguided spirit of mankind.
