Paid for a “do it yourself” at the"glamping" site. What we arrived to was a disaster! Construction everywhere. The camp was absolutely disappointing. We packed gear (tent, tarp and other do it yourself gear) as per the instructions which was wasted space and time because there wasn’t anywhere suitable for a tent to be placed within the camp. My partner and I were stuffed into a storage shed with construction materials and other storage items. Ron had very good boats on the shore waiting to be shipped back to Seward but my partner received a crappy boat with broken cable because all the good boats were not available for no good reason. Ron is a solo guide and sometimes he has equipment that he needs to move. He has no problem wasting your trip time having you help him load and unload his own equipment from the water taxis. Lastly his personal water taxi at the exchange is not adequate and my partner and I were forced to walk upriver while he transported his own equipment. I sought resolution for only the value of our camping experience and did this via email but have received no replies. The lagoon is beautiful, but there are other companies that service this area, i recommend looking else ware. Bear Glacier day sea kayak trip was astounding. Our trip was in June'2016, Ron and our tour guide were awesome. they provided excellent protective gear and kayaks. The water was icy and dead cold as 'acid' but our guide's confidence and encouragement kept us moving all the way up to the face of the glacier. We kayaked in between giant icebergs some of them the size of 3-4 story buildings. The to & fro helicopter ride was thrilling like an action movie. Highly recommend this trip. Get your best camera and give it to your guide to snap those amazing iceberg shots! More then I expected. Guides were excellent, could not have asked for better guides. Absolutely loved them. What an adventure. Backcountry Safaris' Aialik Bay Sea kayaking trip is awesome. If I come back again to Alaska, I would definitely signed up for another trip with Backcountry Safaris. Anyone planning a trip to Alaska I would highly recommend Backcountry Safari.
